  • Administer and evaluate any applications you may make for any programs offered by WINS;

  • Manage our relationship with you;

  • Send you our newsletters if you subscribe to them;

  • Comply with legal and regulatory requirements;

  • To the extent permitted under applicable laws, send commercial electronic messages (such as by email or text) to you providing information about our programs, soliciting donations or news from WINS.  If you no longer want to receive commercial electronic messages from us, you may opt-out by unsubscribing as noted in the messages.  Please note that if you opt-out of receiving commercial electronic messages from us, we may still send you administrative messages that are required to provide you with our services and we nonetheless reserve the right to contact you (including by e-mail or text) where we are legally required or permitted to do so;

  • To the extent permitted under applicable laws, send you administrative messages (such as by email or text) that are required to provide you with our services;

  • As otherwise may be required or permitted by applicable laws.

We use information we automatically collect on this Site to do the following:

  • As explained above under “Google Analytics”;

  • Operate, administer and improve our Site, and to keep our Site safe and secure;

Disclosure of your information

Information about our donors, including personal information, may be posted on the Site for viewing and searching when providing information on our donations.

 

We may share your personal information and information automatically collected through the Site with selected third parties including:

  • For purposes of administering, evaluating, and performing program applications and donation agreements;

  • As described in our application forms or donation agreements;

  • Our service providers who provide certain services to us such as our online donation management system and data hosting.  We will use contractual arrangements to protect personal information disclosed to these service providers;

  • Analytics and search engine providers that assist us in the improvement and optimization of our Site.

We may also disclose your personal information and information automatically collected through the Site to third parties:

  • If we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal information in order to comply with any legal obligation, or as we believe in good faith may be reasonably necessary to comply with any law, regulation, rule, court order, or other lawful requests from governmental, regulatory or administrative agencies or law enforcement authorities (including in response to law enforcement or national security requirements), or in order to enforce or apply our [terms of use, and other agreements; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of WINS or others;

Where we store your personal information

WINS is based in Ontario, Canada and the information (including any personal information) we collect is transferred, maintained, stored, and processed in Canada and other countries outside Canada where our or our service providers’ facilities may be located, including the United States. You understand and agree that we may store and process this information in Canada and other countries as described. The data protection and privacy laws in those countries may offer a lower level of protection than the data protection and privacy laws of Canada.  Also, this information may be subject to access requests from governments, courts, or law enforcement in Canada and foreign countries according to their laws.

 
CONSENT FOR COLLECTION, USE AND DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

By visiting, browsing or using our Site you voluntarily consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information and other information as specified in this policy.  Without limiting the foregoing, we may on occasion ask you to consent when we collect, use, or disclose your personal information in specific circumstances, in which case we may ask for your consent in writing (including by electronic means) although in some circumstances we may accept your oral consent.  Your consent may be implied through your conduct with us if the purpose of the collection, use or disclosure is obvious and you voluntarily provide the information.

IS MY PERSONAL INFORMATION SECURE?

All information (including personal information) that we collect from you, or that you provide to us, is stored on secure servers.  Where you have a password which enables you to access our online donation management system on our Site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the Internet is not completely secure. Although we will use commercially reasonable efforts to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your information transmitted to our Site.

 
RETENTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

Personal information will be retained in accordance with this policy for as long as may be necessary or relevant for the purpose of collection, or as may be required or permitted by applicable law, after which time it may be made anonymous or destroyed unless you further consent to its continued retention.
